Emily

Emily was left with relatives when her owners had to move overseas unfortunately this was not a good arrangement for dog or relatives so Emily came into our care, then along came Jill and Ray, so I will let Jill tell the story from here.

Hi my name is Jill and my husbands name is Ray. We live in Carterton in the Wairarapa. We now happily share our lives, and our home, with a lovely 5 year old Tri coloured, quite long coated, Corgi called Emily.

We have always had a corgi in our lives as we love them so much. Each Corgi has been their own individual selves, been such lovely company and brought us great joy. Emily is the same.

We had a lovely corgi called Skippy and when he was older he suddenly had a heart attack and quietly died. We were both so grief stricken. We were not in a hurry to get another dog as the hurt was so great and we felt we needed time.

However after a little while, a friend, from Fielding way, rang us to say that the SPCA in Fielding had, in their article in the local paper, a Corgi called Emily, who they were looking for a new home for. So Ray rang the Fielding SPCA and we went over there. And yes we both fell in love with Emily and after having our property checked, re having her, we brought her home.

Emily is such a happy young lady, she has settled with us so well. She is very well behaved, learns very quickly, loves a game, loves her squeaky toys, and best of all loves a soft fluffy fox toy that once belonged to our now adult children.

I became ill a number of years ago and Emily walks with me each afternoon. She is so lovely to walk with, she is interested in the whole wide world and is making lots of friends in the area as well. It is very good for my health for me to walk each day and even better for my health to have such a lovely companion to walk with.

Emily has a great love of going in the cab of the truck that Ray uses for work. She is so funny in the truck and looks out the window, and gets so excited when she sees all the sheep and cows that we pass along the way. We get the feeling that she would like to be out herding the animals up. Plus we take her to a Lake in Masterton and she loves it there. However she cannot understand how we can take her there and we will not let her off the lead so that she can round up the ducks.

Emily has her own special little dog bed yes on the floor of our bedroom where all our dogs have slept. She tucks down in her bed at night and sleeps through which is lovely for her and for us. We brush Emilies lovely long coat and she is we believe such a cutey.

We believe we owe the SPCA in Fielding so much thanks for putting Emily into our lives she is very very special to us.
