Why your students would benefit

  • Feilding SPCAs education service teaches compassion and responsible behaviour towards animals as well as to humans and the environment we all share
  • It helps children to gain a better understanding of their responsibilities as a pet owner
  • It helps children recognise that all animals are important, not just those we regard as cute, friendly or economically beneficial
  • It encourages children to realise that humans do not own the planet, but share it with other animals. It leads them from a restricted human-centred view of the world towards one that includes empathy and respect for all life

Subjects for talks

  • Companion animals: their needs, de-sexing, preventing cruelty, emergencies, euthanasia, laws, handling, criteria for ownership, animals as gifts, breeding
  • The role of the SPCA: history, funding, role in society and branches

There is no charge for any of these services but a donation would be very much appreciated
