Available For Adoption

There are many reasons that an animal may be on the site but unavailable for adoption until a set date. All kittens from the Feilding SPCA must be 8 weeks old or 800grms and also need to have been spayed or neutered before they can be adopted. Animals brought into the shelter need to go through a quarantine period prior to adoption, just to make sure they are in top health before they are made available. Some animals are in very poor condition when they arrive at the shelter, many are scared and often they have been mistreated so these guys just need some extra time to recover before they are ready to be adopted and the list of reasons goes on and on.
However if at anytime you see an animal on the site that you think you might like to adopt you can always contact the shelter about this animal and if after meeting the animal you decide that this is the pet for you there is no reason you can not start the adoption procedure prior to the date of availability.
As long as you have completed all the necessary paperwork and paid for the animal the Feilding SPCA will continue to care for your pet free of charge until such time as the animal is ready for adoption. This means that as long as the animal has been through any necessary procedures, is of the correct weight, age etc come the date of availability you will be able to collect your new family member without any problems.
